Our online festival is dedicated to showcasing diverse, independent voices from around the world. Whether it’s your first short or a feature debut, we want to see it.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

We welcome films of all genres, styles, and themes
We welcome narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, student, mobile, and hybrid projects — and everything in between.
International submissions are encouraged. All non-English films must include English subtitles.
Films must be completed after January 1, 2024 to qualify for consideration in the Winter 2026 season.
Technical Requirements
Preferred format: MP4 or MOV, 1080p HD (1920x1080)
Stereo or 5.1 audio accepted
Include at least 1–3 still images from the film and a short synopsis (max 200 words)
Submission Process
Submissions are accepted through FilmFreeway.
Multiple submissions are allowed, but each film requires a separate entry and fee (if applicable).
Password-protected screeners are accepted; please ensure links remain active through the festival.

AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Red Hare Film Festival proudly recognizes excellence in independent filmmaking through a diverse range of jury awards. Each year, a panel of seasoned veterans and accomplished filmmakers evaluates submissions for creativity, storytelling, technical craft, and emotional resonance.
Honors are presented across narrative, documentary, animation, student, mobile, and emerging media categories, including recognition for short and feature-length works, music videos, and digital series.
All official selections receive festival laurels, while top honors are reserved for films that embody originality, artistic integrity, and the independent spirit.
Red Hare is dedicated to uplifting filmmakers whose work challenges convention, expands creative boundaries, and inspires meaningful dialogue within the global film community.

What kinds of films do you accept?
We accept films of all genres, styles, and lengths, including narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and student work. International submissions are welcome. Non-English films must include English subtitles.
Do I still own the rights to my film if I submit?
Yes. Filmmakers retain full ownership and copyright of their work. By submitting, you grant the festival non-exclusive rights to screen your film if selected, and to use clips/stills for promotional purposes only.
Can I submit more than one film?
Absolutely. You may submit multiple films, but each requires a separate submission and entry fee (if applicable).
